The 1957 Lincoln Premiere was a bold and luxurious statement from Ford’s Lincoln division, designed to compete with the finest American luxury cars of its time. With its sweeping lines, dramatic tailfins, and expansive chrome accents, the Premiere exemplified the era’s love for futuristic styling. Under the hood, it featured a powerful 368-cubic inch V8 engine paired with a Turbo-Drive automatic transmission, offering smooth, confident performance. Inside, the Premiere boasted a plush interior with advanced features for the day, including power windows, power vent windows, six-way power seats, under seat heat, signal-seeking radio, rare factory air conditioning, automatic door locks, an Autronic Eye headlight dimmer, and a push button chassis multi-lube system.
The 1957 model was longer, lower, and wider than its predecessors, riding on a unique unibody construction that set it apart from competitors. Though not as widely remembered as some contemporaries, the Lincoln Premiere stands today as a striking example of 1950s American automotive design and luxury, embodying both elegance and innovation. Fun fact: This Premiere has the only known existing pair of factory headlight delete plates. In 1957 it was illegal in 14 states to operate 4 headlights, and even though every Premiere has an override switch to disable the lower headlights, this rare factory option was offered.
